Why you should play Forza Horizon 4 if you don’t like racing games

It’s gleeful, messy fun that you can enjoy in solo campaign mode or together with your friends. Coming from a developer with a genuine console racer pedigree, it’s no surprise that Gear.Club is one of the most exciting new iOS racer for years. It’s got great car physics, top graphics, and a large roster of real-life rides. Like all Forza games, the details in both graphics and sound design is what makes this game so attractive. While all of us are waiting for Need For Speed Underground Remake, or Remaster (if they’re even making one) Need for Speed Heat is another great game. The rich and vibrant open-world racer with interesting day/night mechanics is really similar to Forza Horizon games.

The result is a game that feels much more like real driving, and as you’ll read about in our Project Cars 2 PC review, it is wonderful. Playing well on both a wheel and on a controller, you will have no trouble at all getting to grips with the controls and the gameplay dynamics of this racer. There are more than 320 cars to choose from in GT Sport, which can be used on more than 80 different track layouts. The realism of the game is up there with some of the best racing simulators on the market, but once again you do not need to be a very skilled player to get the hang of the racing experience. Using the time trials and daily races are great ways to improve too.

MotoGP 21 prides itself on being one of the most authentic two-wheel racing experiences out there. Choose from 120 riders and many iconic bikes on over 20 tracks as you challenge friends in online multiplayer. Forza Horizon 5 brings players to Mexico in one of, if not, the most varied and vibrant open-world playgrounds found in a racing game. There are hundreds of cars to drive as you traverse the country with friends. There are races, challenges, stunt events, and much more to participate in alone or as part of a group. Code pioneers built Dirt 5 far into the 90s, making it one of the oldest and still relevant driving games.

The game has a cool day-and-night mechanic that lets you embrace brighter, daytime racing scenes, as well as high-stakes, underground racing at night. Palm City looks great in either light, and gives the game visual variety. If you’re a lapsed fan or new to the series, this is where you want to be. The addition of dynamic weather effects transforms the typical race from a technical route memorization test to an impromptu puddle-dodging marathon in low visibility. Night tracks slowly transition to dawn, sunlight filling out pitch black darkness while Forza looks and plays better than ever. It’s weighed down by an awful progression system too dependent on a hackneyed loot box system, but as the first mainline Forza on PC, Motorsport 7 is malleable enough to absorb the shock of a few speed bumps.

There’s plenty of content to keep you coming back; as in-game seasons change every week, new events appear alongside them to complete, earning you exchangeable points you can redeem for exclusive cars. One problem with such a vast world involves the environmental hazards. The car customization allows you to pretty much adjust everything that you could possibly want to. The difficulty in handling your car is at the perfect middle ground. It’s not too hard or easy to control the cars and it doesn’t take long to get used to the handling model.

In the meantime, while the official WRC games are decent simulations of this most daredevil of motorsports, Dirt Rally 2.0 nails the feeling of driving at both low and high speed. It’s ultra-smooth, ultra-realistic and every surface feels just right. Best played with a wheel and pedals , this is still lots of fun on a pad.
